my brain is pastede on yay.

Well, more to the point, it won't shut off.

I crossed the 25k mark on Nano today, which makes me feel that the large portion of this week I lost to illness is now made up for, plus I gained my slack days back.

Am musing on a post about my presentation of gender.

Plus now the damned Nano story has gotten to the point I see places where the story is going, and it *annoys* me. Because this thing seems to be approaching Robert Jordanesque levels of wordcount, if not intricacy. That's a bad thing. I'm going to blow past 50k and *still* not have the twins back in Nithmoral, let alone tell the major story I wanted to tell. Plus, the more and more this goes, the more and more I see that the story that *interested* me and made me pick this as my Nano project is off in Part 2, which will probably not even get wrote this year. :(

Speaking of the illness, other than not being able to hear conversation (I have to keep asking people to repeat themselves, and it annoys me. I can't handle being suddenly mostly deaf) and a bit of a cough, I'm feeling much better than I was. I managed to finally cajole my doc into a Wednesday appointment, so I have happy kill bacteria dead pills.

Other than that, things are going rather well. I have to sorta hope that the meds are shortcircuiting what might be a possible upswing. Not that upswings are bad, per se, but I eventually pay for them. And that, my friends, is the part I dread.

What's new with all of you out in LJ land?

me: mutters about the yummy and delicious eyeball that didn't want to come out and be ate.
friend: ?
me: is there something there you didn't understand? ;)
me: finally got it out. For I am a dexterous monkey and have opposable thumbs.
friend: Yeah that whole last sentence you sent! :P
me: ...you mean you don't normally hear about yummy and delicious eyeballs? ;)
friend: No.
me: what planet are you from?
friend: Earth.
me: You can't be. 'Cause I'm from Earth.
friend: I am too.
me: and you've never heard of yummy and delicious eyeballs?
friend: Nope.
me: What backwards culture were you raised in? ;)
friend: :P

...at which point I had to admit it was a gummy eyeball. (Which, weirdly enough, do not trigger my eye squick. Don't ask me why.)

In other news, I have antibiotics and codeine cough syrup, so maybe I'll feel well enough tomorrow to pick back up the pace on the Nano novel. The official diagnosis is definite outer ear and sinus infections, probable bronchitis, and possible middle ear infections. And my chest hurts from coughing so much. So I think I'm going to go sit in the bathtub with The Great Deluge s'more and then take some wonderful cough syrup and go to bed, free from hack hack hacking.

I'm glad I got a good jump on Nano this year.

Because this cold/whatever the hell it's turned into is kicking my ass. I pretty much took an almost zero day (I got a couple hundred words down today) but I'm okay about that because I'm ahead of the game.

I finally managed to wrangle a doctor's appointment for tomorrow. That's good, because I was going to put "going to the ER" on my agenda for tomorrow if that hadn't happened. It's also good because I'm tired of coughing. And not being able to hear.

It's also nice to go to bed on election night being moderately happy at the results. (I'd be happier if I heard how Tester's doing in MT, but hey, that can wait until morning. I care about Tester not only for the senate control thing, but also because I've only given money to three candidates -- Dean for prez, Durston for Congress in my congressional district, and Tester for Senate in MT. Of those, two didn't win. I'm hoping to break my losing streak.)

I think I'll go to sleep now.

Zokutou is back, yay!

Anyway, I slacked yesterday. I wanted to listen to the Cal game, which was right in the middle of meetup, and so I slacked, but I had slack in the schedule. Today I wrote more.

[livejournal.com profile] zibblsnrt has jokingly asked me if I'm doing NaNoWriFo. ...with it being only five days in, and I'm already at 15k, a two week 50k binge is entirely possible. I don't know if I'll stress myself out to try, but if I do, it could be fun.

There's new stuff in [livejournal.com profile] katsterwrites, and tomorrow I'll put up the beginning of Chapter 2, which is punctuated by Finnegan vs. the hurricane. (I'm thinking of changing that -- I'm using hurricane because that's what they're called in my dialect of English, but I considered cyclone and typhoon. None of them really seem to have the right feel for high fantasy, though.) Anyway, Chapter 2 is dragging a bit. It's like, c'mon characters, hurry up and get to idyllic fantasy village where the children can grow up.

In other news, I have a cold. And now my ears are plugged. And it's been two weeks, and I'm pretty much only functional by liberal application of sudafed, cough syrup, cough drops, and kill headache dead medication. And my ears are still plugged, and I can't hear well in ambient settings -- which means, while I might be able to hear with a phone up to my ear or with my headphones on, I can't hear a person trying to converse with me when I'm nearly standing in front of them. I think it's doctor time tomorrow.

Other than that, I'm doing okay. How about you, LJ world?
