…this is brought to you in honor of today’s interview. Now, if you don’t mind me, I’m going to be looking for something to bring me back up to speed with Java and begin the task of familiarizing myself with C#.

I found this in Tomes of Ancient Lore in [livejournal.com profile] pernishus's office:

Why are you on my friends' list?

Reply, then copy the question in your LJ

[livejournal.com profile] archangelbeth descended from heaven and threw a fortune cookie at me. It hurt. After I recovered from the shock, I found this meme inside:

Comment with a title of a story I have not written, and I will respond with details of this non-existent story. Or excerpts. Or something, anyway.
katster: (thoughtful)
Hmmm. This looks interesting. Mind doing me a favor and filling out my Johari window?

(I dunno how many responses I'll get, but the ones I do get ought to be interesting.)

Random 10.

This one just for the genre whiplash in the first two songs:

  1. Family Snapshot, Peter Gabriel
  2. Sesame Street Theme
  3. Square One, Coldplay
  4. Iris, Goo Goo Dolls
  5. You Ought to Be Here With Me, Original Broadway Cast Recording of Big River
  6. I'm the Only One Here, Captain Tractor
  7. Kit & Holly, Echoboy
  8. California Indian Song, University of California Marching Band
  9. 2112 Overture, Rush
  10. Anchors Aweigh, United States Air Force Band (yes, I'm perfectly content with the irony there)

And yeah, I've got a really random mp3 collection.

As seen in [livejournal.com profile] damienroc and [livejournal.com profile] kphoebe's journals:

Ask me for my Top Five. Any category, any topic.

[Yeah, I know, I'm memeing a lot. But I'm not quite sure what to say what's in my head.]

I was poking through [livejournal.com profile] aris_tgd's rough draft of her thesis and came across this question printed on a piece of paper and shoved in the middle of the stack:

The problem with LJ: we all think we are so close, but really we know nothing about each other. So I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Ask away.

Then post this in your LJ and find out what people don't know about you.

A couple of caveats, I've seen elsewhere: (A) it doesn't have to be just one question. (B) I reserve the right to refuse to answer, but I'll try to explain why I think that way.

found folded neatly in one of [livejournal.com profile] pernishus's Russian books...

Please leave a one-word comment that you think best describes me.

It can only be one word.

No more.

Then copy & paste this in your journal so that I may leave a word about you.

Found while riffling through [livejournal.com profile] pernishus's collection of books in Russian:Four is a good number )

but [livejournal.com profile] griffen and [livejournal.com profile] dandelion_diva did it, so I guess I will too...

If you have anything to say to the person who posts this, say it to them. If you love them, tell them. If you hate them, tell them.
Whatever you have to say to this person, even if it's something you're having trouble saying, if the person posts this entry, say it to them. You may never get a chance to again, so just do it.

Comments are screened so you can speak your mind in peace.

I stole the keys from the wayback machine from [livejournal.com profile] fairoriana and went for a drive up the line.

Back in time meme

Chances are people you don't even know are being introduced to your journal every day, either randomly or through someone else.

In addition to recent entries, people can get to know you better by what you posted in the past. With that in mind post a link to your entries on this day exactly six months ago, nine months ago, a year ago, two years ago, etc. If there was no entry on that day, link the closest date.

Six months:
http://www.livejournal.com/users/katster/2005/03/28/

Hmmm, two posts. One is a grumble about Berkeley's computer security in regards to SSNs and while it was a Grad Div laptop, I wasn't informed. Two is a random post about the first attempts to clean the garage (suck!) and introducing [livejournal.com profile] leto_bucher to #spork, and other grumbles.

And I'm apperantly a killer bee. Thanks, memes!

Nine months:
http://www.livejournal.com/users/katster/2004/12/28/

One post. My mother got the gamecube, and I bought NCAA football 2004 with it. And I'd already managed to beat Stanford. It wasn't hard. :)

One year:
http://www.livejournal.com/users/katster/2004/09/29/

This is actually dated September 29th, since there was no entry on the 28th, but it's where I got my assignment to work on Election Day. That turned out to be one of the coolest days of my life, but this was before I knew how it was going to go.

Two years:
http://www.livejournal.com/users/katster/2003/09/28/.

Two posts, the first a cryptic comment about the network needing therapy, and the second explaining it along with a lot of other things. That was the weekend Juan came to Halifax, that was the weekend Cal beat #3 USC in football (that was USC's last loss, for those following along at home), and that was the weekend I came home to say goodbye to Autumn-cat the first time. We made an executive decision to let her try to live as long as she could and she lived nine months before we finally decided it was time.

And no, I still haven't been around to see Zibb since that summer in Halifax three years and three months ago. :( If all goes well, I will hopefully see him *next* June, but...

Three years:
http://www.livejournal.com/users/katster/2002/09/28/

I get caught up in another one of Luns' madcap schemes. This is an occupational hazard of living in Berkeley. :) (And he still tries to get me involved with them even though I'm now three and a half hours away!)

Four years:
http://www.livejournal.com/users/katster/2001/09/28/

Those were the days when the network was falling apart, due to several crises of a melodramatic nature wandering around, and the fact that the September 11th had just happened 17 days prior. There's another hint of falling apart in there, which really isn't surprising given that October is usually a notoriously bad month for my moods. And there's the story of the time I got intervened on, and why I panic when somebody asks me to call the police on a suicide call.

Oh the times, they are a changin'.

Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] millenia:

* - Go to my icons.
* - Tell me which five you most associate with me.
* - I'll try to return the favor with five of yours (provided you have at least six) as soon as I can.
katster: (avatar)
I got it from [livejournal.com profile] kightp who got it from [livejournal.com profile] wild_irises, who got it from [livejournal.com profile] womzilla:

I'd love it if every single person on my friends list - well, those who care to, anyway - would volunteer a personal nugget of information that
might be evidence of a defining trait. Yes, even (especially?) those people who think I know them reasonably well. Then post this in your
own journal if you like.
katster: (Default)
First, a bit of meme, found as a scrap of bookmark in a book loaned from [livejournal.com profile] siliconshaman:

What would you like to do with me? Answer in a comment, and then post the question to your own LJ, to see what I and others want to do with you.

Second, a note. Today was bad. Very bad. And it wasn't even anything particularly bad. I'm just feeling tired and lonely and neglected and lost, which is somewhat of my usual state. Was rather disappointed by some people, and dealing with a bunch of stuff that I sorta did to myself, but does not make me any cheerier, and I was in a bad state. What's new?

Sometimes, I wonder if I've lost all the words.

More later, if I find them.
katster: (chillin)
Slipped in with the information [livejournal.com profile] gridlore conveyed to me in a meeting in a parking garage at three AM.

1) Why did you add me to your LiveJournal friends list?
2) What would you say is the most boring stuff I post? The most interesting?
3) What would you like to know about me that you don't already know?
4) What do you think is my weirdest listed interest? My most normal listed interest?
5) Based on what I've written in this journal, where do you see me in five years?
