If all goes well, this post should post both on my LJ and my GreatestJournal. (I'm the same username on both.)

I'm just trying to get all my ducks in a row if it comes to a possible move...

How are you getting it to do that? I should look into the trick myself.

whats going on with LJ that makes you want to leave?? (you got a perm account so I don't think they remove those no matter where you go). I've always had issues with GJ so I don't use it anymore.. =)

They're starting to purge accounts for dubious reasons again.

bah! I thought they got this sorted out already! *sigh* when is it freedom of speech if you are fully warned and click on the "dont click unless you are over 18" thingy..

LJ is isn't a burning theatre.. or is it? We only just got our perm accounts.. I really wouldn't want to risk losing it but then are they purging accounts for what I read?? I certainly don't write the stuff. (if I was there are other fandom places to post that stuff and you do have to be over 18).

pooh.. what ever happened to free will??

Freedom-of-speech laws don't apply to LJ; it's private property and they're, technically, permitted to be as arbitrary or as permissive as they want with such things without fear of legal repurcussions.

In other words, what they're doing isn't illegal, but it's sure as hell stupid and generally unnecessary. At least they aren't claiming interests are advocacies anymore. :P

Im not sure moving anywhere's going to help. About the only thing would be to have a blog of your own, on your own site, and own your own server. My cousin, [livejournal.com profile] jessicaleigh, was on GJ for a few years as well as LJ, and found just as much wankery and drama and irrational mod decisions, so she gave it up... And glory knows you don't want MySpace or FaceBook, with the way they're now having to actively assist the Authorities in order to prove that they, themselves, are innocent.

And yup.

I'm not planning on bailing, as the latest round of strikethroughs does seem to have legal merit, but I will try to name this username (if I didn't, years ago) to make parallel journals, at least. I might also add one on blogger and just run rss feeds instead.

I have the same user name on GJ but I found the servers to be frustrating and often times it wouldn't let me read my friends posts unless I clicked on them manually.. no amount of logging in & out and refreshing again would update my friends stuff, so it was magic to see if there were new posts. We got to the point where we'd post on LJ to go "over there" and see the post. I just don't bother with it anymore. Some of my friends that post there got RSS feeds instead. They're still on LJ but it's just tedious sometimes.

I got a typepad logon and blogger so I could post comments on peoples feeds, but I find now & again I actually post little things in both places (not typepad yet) because I am meeting people outside LJ who are involved in other blogging communities.. Makes keeping up rather sketchy but LJ is still my first place of journaling. I like the filters that allow me to control how much I read and when I read it. You can't really do that on some of the other sites out there... plus I like the social networking aspect of LJ .. I don't need blaring music and oversized friends listings like MYspace and whatever is out there. Sometimes I want friends to find me.. and then, sometimes I like to be able to keep my daily goings on "friends only" LJ sucks sometimes but not enough for me to leave it. This is what made me decide to go ahead with the perm account. I miss the "brad" days though. 6A is too big too care about LJ and it's people.
