Once it was WSU and a fumble on the one yard line.

This time, if DeSean had just been bare millimeters to the right...or if their wide reciever had been called on the pass interference instead of Dante Hughes...or if Lavelle hadn't tripped on the one yard line...or if Longshore had just been a little more careful with his passes...

DeSean Jackson did everything he could to win us that game, but in the end, it just wasn't enough.

Cal loses. It's not improbable that we could still spend New Years' in Pasadena; it's just become a lot harder.

Next week, USC.

Hey, and congrats to Rutgers on that nice win the other day.

No, it hasn't. If the Bears defeat U$c next Saturday, the Bears get to spend New Years in Arroyo Seco.

Even if the Bears had beaten the cats, they would still have pretty much needed to have beaten the Trojenz to go to Pasadena, the only other additional outs would have been...
1. UCla beating U$c... not bloody likely.
2. U$c advancing to the national title game AND Cal retaining a high enough BCS standing to back in to the Rose Bowl. Again, not bloody likely.

Honestly, I think that next week's game being for the Rose Bowl is pretty damned cool. If the Bears win, there's no question that they will have earned the right to play in Pasadena.
