It's a start.

This year is not going to be as good as last year, but that's okay. Embrace the suck.

Now I leave Dixon, drive home, go to bed. For I have accounting midterm tomorrow.

Ah, much earlier than I was there. But we still may've both taken a history class from Sally Adams. ;)

I grew up in Dixon, spent most of my life there, my parents both graduated from Dixon High.

My standout teachers were Sherrell Futrell and Dave Dugan. I don't remember the names of any others.

I also went to the same middle school as Kat and her mom, but not at the same time as either.

Good luck on the midterm!

And on the novel, too!

Define "not as good"?

Last year, the idea I ended up going with had enough time to stew in my head that I pretty much knew where it was going. And I reread the file, and I'm actually fairly pleased with the writing.

This year's Nano feels much more like a seat of the pants type affair, and I don't think the story will be as coherent. It probably could have used more time in the marinating pan, but c'est la vie. You go to Nano with the story you have, not the story you wish you have, to paraphrase Donald Rumsfeld.

Hence, "not as good". Subjective, yes. But that's sort of the way this feels.

Gottit. The path, this year, to true novel is not running smoothly.
