Gophers won today, too. 10-9 over NDSU...I'm glad the Gophers won, but really, NDSU should have won. Those boys played their hearts out--the Gophers played like sh*t.

Heart attack finishes all around this last Saturday..I had no idea UCLA had that good of a defense, though ND certainly didn't play to what they're capable of..until the final 62 seconds. Maybe the Bruins were overachieving just because they hadn't played ND in 40+ years, but I think it's good for Cal that they get a bye week before hosting them.

"Good ol'" Ty lost so many games like that with ND..it's not even funny. He has no idea how to finish a game off, and his players are just as confused. I wondered then and I wonder now if he really has any deep desire to win..if so, he sure doesn't show it all that well.

Well, I've got to give Ty some credit on this one. UW just refused to quit when they had every reason to. They lost their starting QB in last week's game, and then lost their starting RB in the first quarter of this game. They were 22 point underdogs on the road. And yet, they lead at halftime, and managed to force OT.

The reason we were in OT in the first place? Friggen Hail Mary, tipped by two Cal defenders right into the hands of a UW player. I got so ticked listening to Starkey's call that I threw off my headphones. Thankfully, Marshawn Lynch ran for the endzone on the second play of overtime, and then the Cal defense let UW get a first down and then clamped down. first and goal from the six, and the two plays were a five yard stuff of the running back, and then the interception.

I was so happy.

Now, it boils down to Cal needing a win over USC and two of UCLA, Arizona and Stanford to win the Pac-10 for the first time since the 1970s. This year, though, there would be a tie of first that would benefit Cal instead of hurting it.

And then maybe the 47 year drought will end.
