Devils bedeviled in California...
Sep. 23rd, 2006 05:27 pmSo...two ranked teams, going into the first Pac-10 game of the season for both of them. It's going to be a nasty, hard fought battle, right? Wrong. Arizona State got the first drive running well, and put seven on the board, but that's the last time they would lead in the entire game. Longshore gets his act together and finds Forsett for Forsett's first TD catch, and then ASU fumbled, and Longshore found Hawkins steps from the endzone on the very next snap, and then on ASU's next drive, they punt it away, and DeSean Jackson finds daylight and blows 88-yard for the punt return touchdown. And just like that *snap*, it was 21-7, and the Sun Devils never really posed a threat the rest of the way. Jackson also had a nice catch that lead to a Lynch touchdown pass, and a touchdown reception of his own, and Damieon Hughes and Mickey Pimentel (the latter in a spectacular "let me tip the pass and then catch it" play) both returned an interception for a touchdown.
Other interesting note: the coach of ASU is now 0-11 in Pac-10 games held in California.
All in all, a very nice day for the Golden Bears. Next week, the Bears head to Corvallis, OR, to take on the Oregon State Beavers, Cal's first road game since the Tennessee disaster. Should be interesting.
