Date: 2006-09-13 04:03 pm (UTC)We were having a conversation last night about stuff, and I mentioned the air's pretty nasty in Sacramento right now because there's a fire burning in the foothills up near Forest Hills. And Luns kinda wondered why we get fires, and I pointed out the weather pattern -- long dry summers and rainy winters -- leads to that sort of thing happening. And he mentioned that the Aussies get it worse. I agreed, pointing out Australia gets pretty much the same weather pattern (well, at least, those parts that tend to catch on fire). And he said, "Also, they have eucalyptus."
And I said, "Well, we're doing a good job of that too. See the Oakland/Berkeley firestorm of 1991." And that's when he said that line up above, and it cracked me up. So I had to share.
