Are you ready for some football?
Date: 2006-08-24 12:18 pm (UTC)I'm anxious to see how the Gophers play out in their non-conference play this season--we've lost some key players due to graduation, the NFL, and poor academics. I try not to have too high of an expectation, but for some odd reason(s), I get rather emotional over the games.
I can't remember, will this be the first Gopher/Bear game?
Our first game is one week away! Yay!!! :)

As for the atmosphere around Cal these days, it's really strange to hear pundits say stuff like "if they can get past Tenn and USC, the Bears have as good of a chance as anybody at making it to the national title game." Like they're expecting us to be good or something...
It's really kinda rarefied air for me, because when I was an undergrad, we went to one bowl game, and more often than not, we lost. (I mean, keep in mind, five years ago, this team went 1-10.)
So I'm excited and scared about Bear football at the same time.
I should check when Cal makes the return trip to Minnesota on this one -- my grandfather grew up in rural Minnesota and one of my good friends was raised in the twin cities and did some work at UMN before coming out this way (he's in NYC now), and I'd love to see the place, and a football game might be the perfect excuse. Just have to come up with the money for the flight. :)
(And it's a *golden* game. Golden Bears vs. Golden Gophers. Whee!)
