Dropped a sewer grate on my toe this afternoon, and now I'm watching my nail turn interesting colors.

I'm pretty sure now I didn't break it, but I wasn't entirely sure when I first did it.

And it still aches.

Hmmm, well, if a employer is somebody who employs people, and an employee is one who is employed, then a droppee must be someone who is dropped.

But the verb seems to have gone walkabout if that's the case.

None, actually. There was just a doggie standing above the grate, looking all sad and forlorn at her ball, which had gone down the drain moments earlier.

The ball was rescued.
