katster has ambition
Nov. 25th, 2005 12:20 amToday's grandiose job title du jour:
I am a Consultant.
I dunno what I'm consulting for, but I think from now on when things ask me for my job, I'm going to say that I'm a Consultant. It just sounds important. ;)

Ummm?
Don't go by "consultant". People in the Know, so totally look down at this title. Thanks to the hi-tech hype-pumped bubble, it has mostly come to mean "blathering fools who charge lots of money, for nifty-sounding but empty words." MBA types love consultants. People who do the actual work, do not.
But their are exceptions of course, I found Hitch to be pretty funny, and he went by "consultant" as well. ;-)

Date: 2005-11-28 09:48 am (UTC)After all, Michael Brown, he of the fumbled FEMA response to Hurricane Katrina, is going into consulting, where he's going to tell people how not to make the mistakes he did.
I figure if he can make money off of it, so can I. ;)
(Seriously, I know it's a damned buzzword, I spent just enough time in grad school to figure that out.)
