Joshua fought the battle of Jericho,
Jericho, Jericho
Joshua fought the battle of Jericho
and the walls came a'tumblin' down

Feeling pretty good for the first time in a while. Writer's block broke on that project that I've been complaining about all week, and I got a hundred and fifty lines wrote before I had to stop and figure out exactly where I wanted to go next. This is spretty much in the span of an hour too. And I'm only about 1/3 of the way through the project. Woo, this makes me feel really good.

There are other parts of me that are looking up. School starts, and I'm actually looking forward to it. Yeah, I've got three nasty technical classes that make up the core of my units (11 of them), but my other 5 units are gonna be really easy. And I've managed to hang onto a 3.7 average so far in junior college. Yeah, this'll be a challenge, but next semester should be fairly easy in comparison

And other things have contributed to making this a relatively good couple of days for me. Even though I couldn't sleep and stuff. So, I'm gonna go to bed now, and sleep, and tomorrow I'll get my textbooks, and be a happy camper.

BTW, as explanation. I love old spiritual hymms. And I've always love the story of Joshua, and how faith sometimes brings miracles. And I just think that's cool. And it just fits today, I just tried to work past the sleepiness, and words on the project came to me. And I was feeling pretty lousy before because I couldn't word what I wanted to say.

So we'll see. Today ended in sweetness and light. This makes me happy. Slowly, I'm chinning myself back out of the abyss...

You can talk about your men of Gideon
You can talk about your king of Saul
But there's none like good ol' Joshua
At the battle of Jericho, that morning...

Some of those old spirituals are truly lovely... I wound up singing some of them to my children as lullabies (talk about the stereotypical Mammy..) and they're still the first songs that come to mind when I feel like singing but don't have a specific song stuck in my head.

Anyway, I'm just occasionally looking in, as you no doubt know... glad to know that you're doing better, and I hope you're getting enough sleep now, too.

Shut the door,
Keep out the devil.
Shut the door,
Keep the devil in the night.
Shut the door,
Keep out the devil;
Light the candle,
Everything's all right.

My Mama used to sing this song...
(Shut the door, keep out the devil..)
Papa used to sing it, too.
(Shut the door, keep the devil in the night...)
Jesus came and too them home,
(Shut the door, keep out the devil...)
Now I sing this song for you.

Shut the door,
Keep out the devil.
Shut the door,
Keep the devil in the night.
Shut the door,
Keep out the devil;
Light the candle,
Everything's all right.
