Okay. Apperantly, I was going to be enjured for some criminal case, but after an hour or so flipping through a Time magazine I brought with me, I was told that both the criminials in the two cases we were being held for both heard the words, "We're going to start assembling your jury", thought twice about that whole thing, and pled.

I really don't mind doing my civic duty. Really. It wasn't like I had anything better to be doing, and I voluntarily sat at the polls all day for election day for much the same reason.

But I sorta got cheated by my jury duty experience, and I'd really like to actually go through the process at some point.

Mebbe in Sactown.

Honestly, I've been told that happens a lot. Suddenly those slick lies a defendent was telling start to sound a whole lot stupider when they realize that twelve people (some of whom are cranky about having to be on a jury) are going to be listening to them.

Similarly, I imagine that sometimes the prosecutor realizes that a case is a bit weaker than it looked last week, and offers a better deal.

You did good... but yeah, you're right, it's nothing compared to actually going through the process.

They really should realize that it's pointless to call people in if you have no case to try, and not call them in when there's no case ... if that makes sense.

Yeah, but think of all the money you saved the comity. True, it would have been better if these lusers had pled guilty in the beginning, but... well... no one said every criminal was an Evil Mastermind. Many of them have little or no mind at all.

And your being there so that a jury could be empaneled made that possible. It's just as important, though not as much fun, as getting to see a trial.
