As noted in a comment to [livejournal.com profile] rollick's post:

As a child, I wanted to grow up to be _______________.

me:
Mr. Roger's television neighbor.

I mean, I wanted to play a neighbor of his on TV.

The other notorious one was 'bookwriter'. Which led me to tell my soon-to-be math major mother that I didn't need math because of my career choice. She quickly dissuaded me from this line of thinking.

Now, I don't know what I want to be when I grow up.

Tell me, what did you want to do when you grew up when you were a kid? And what do you want to be when you grow up now?

[Edit 12:20 pm]. Related to this, [livejournal.com profile] shadesong asked: If you could get paid for doing what you're best at... what would you be doing? What's your calling?

and I said:
Writing and doing research. I still want to be a professor, I just don't think I'll ever be allowed into a Ph.D track at the rate I'm going.

If I can't be a prof, I wanna be a writer.

So I guess that sorta answers the 'what I want to do when I grow up' question.

I was just having a discussion about that last night with my roommate. At this point, I've had the chance to try a few things out, and now, although I know what I "don't" want to do, I still have not a clue what I do want to do...
