The difference between fanspeak and mundanes' speech. Swiped from [livejournal.com profile] technoshaman

Some of it rings true for me. Some of it I'd still have to think about. I know I do tend to speak in full sentences (hell, I *type* in full sentences, even in IRC), and as for footnotes, isn't that what a parenthetical aside is? :)

This is really fascinating!

In particular, I like the thought that "fan" articulation may result from being very bright children trying to communicate with adults.

Wonder what she'd think of a sysadmin convention?
