Y'know, if we're going to be this angry about the French (and doing stupid things with it), why don't we just give the Statue of Liberty back? I mean, the French made it. Hell, why don't we give ourselves back to England? The French helped our revolution. Fucking ungrateful idiots in Congress.

*shrug* Bigotry's bigotry. Call it ungrateful or whatever else.

A lot of Americans seem embarrassed to admit that the French actually did help them during the Revolution, but dismissals don't change what happened. Holding some kind of deluded grudge against them because of the Second World War is no better than going dismissing anything a German says because hey, they're all Nazis anyway.

I don't hate the French, and I don't mind thaat they helped during the Revolution, but that was over 200 years ago. It's French policy I don't like right now. As for Germany, it's the same thing.

WWII was about sixty years ago; from where I am it's getting towards time to stop preening about that too. My problem right now is with people not finding a problem in doing infantile stuff like changing French fries and German measles to freedom fries and liberty measles as if the words themselves are obscenities - and then looking around wondering why the rest of the world finds them to be childish.
