I dunno what to say. I'm hoping to be able to find time tomorrow to write a sumnation of the year.

I was supposed to go out to Winters this evening with [livejournal.com profile] aris_tgd, but the news people were all OMGWTFBBQ WATER EVERYWHERE even when they’ve only been predicting this for the last few days. And to be fair 80W was closed between Sactown and the Bay Area, and 80E was massively slowed down due to flooding, and 505 was closed between 16 and I-5 -- you just never hear of freeways getting flooded out, so all of this was kinda interesting. So in the end, after much worry about going boldly to our drowny deaths, it was decided to stay home. Oh well.

If you’ve seen the rescue footage of a girl being lifted to safety by a firefighter lowered by helicopter from a yellow truck, that occurred about a mile and a half to two miles from my house. (Link is an inline windows media player video.)

That’s about it right now. Happy new year from the left coast.

Wow. It's been at least twenty years since it's rained that much there. I remember the last time it did; there was water up to the level of the causeway.
