The Spirit of Christmas
Dec. 24th, 2005 08:33 pmI'm on Jill's laptop at my papa's house, and I'd figure I'd check in. Besides, I've got a neat story.
Jill and I were at FoodMaxx (a grocery store) yesterday. The lady in front of me had just bought a box of Oreos and directed the clerk to put it into a cart a boy was guarding. His face lit up and he went, "Mom! Mom!" all excitedly. Turns out, the family of the boy had brought the oreos to the checkstand, but had told the clerk they didn't want it when they found out how much it cost. So the lady in line ahead of me bought the box of Oreos for them. She said, "He really seemed disappointed when he didn't get them so I just decided to make him happy."
And that, I think, sums up the human dignity and kindness that should surround this season.
Merry Christmas, everybody. I'll catch up with y'all when I next get a chance.
