Okay. my shiny new laptop is on order (yes, another IBM), and it will need a name when it gets here. I name computers after TS Eliot poems, and laptops take names from Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats. (Desktops use the rest of Eliot's canon, so I have Wasteland, Prufrock, and Hollowman. The old laptop was Macavity.) So, the new laptop needs a name. And below are a bunch of names from said book, so feel free to pick the ones you most like.

no..not my idea for it's name, but you can use it if you like it. I think a pc should be named in part according to what it can do but it's really up to the person doing such naming. me I've never been one to use teh whole naming scheme thing like another blue fellow and his tendency to name them after Covenant characters.

My pc is called Alias after a charater from an old series of D&D books (back when they were owned by the great TSR), and my palm is KITT (it's mobile :D). I'm too po' to have a laptop so couldn't give you a name for that...though if I did guess I'd have to name it soemthing equally specific to my mindset.

I think you should avoid naming it Macavity or Mistoffelees, because both of those aren't there when you need them. Therefore, I suggested the reliable ones, who are always there!

Well, the first computer Macavity was actually pretty reliable despite being named for the great cat mastermind. :)

But yeah, even then, people pointed out the incongruity in naming a laptop after that character. ;)

I recommend Jenny-Anydots. Quiet during the day, busy at night and one of the few featured felines that seemed comfortable on a laptop.
