general notice

From one of my IRC channels tonight:

[21:54] <katster> by the way, may I state for the record unequivocally that if I up and disappear for long stretches of time, it is because my mother has deemed anything I do on the computer as "frivolous" and thus subject to interruption.

Yeah. This means that writing is frankly out of the question, which is why my journal has been mostly silent. Because it's easier to do things that can be interrupted if that's the way it's going to work. :P

*sigh* Parents. What can you do?

Move out. Just a thought....

You say that like it's trivial. All of us would happily lend kat a room if we had one or it were possible, but the situation is mired in complications.

Here's hoping that the move comes swiftly and with minimal pain.

Well, if you must know: i was planning on moving out also when I had the resources to do it. Hell, moving in with a fannish friend or two would be real nice....

Yeah. I'll just let kat explain her particulars to you when it's convenient; take my word for it for now that it's complex.

I can't say I'm suprised. Nothing is ever simplistic.

Unfortunately, not much - we never stop being parents to our kids and kids to our parents, as long as they draw breath. And when one has a completely different mindset from one's parent(s)(being the bookworm in a family of athletes was my cross to bear), things just get amplified.

Wish I could help -

I'd definitely say "find a job, move in the vicinity." It's nice being within half an hour of your parents in case anything happens in either direction, but having a job would a) advance your career b) give you more leverage for getting to NL c) give you an excuse to move closer there while still keeping near your parents. Sac has a lot of opportunities (especially compared to Redding), and I hope you can get your career started there.

BTW, you're an adult now... finished with college -and- a masters, you know?

I don't get it. How old are you again?

[identity profile] spitgirl.livejournal.com 2005-07-27 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Who, me?

... older than Kat?
