I've got a couple obscure songs on my list of ones I've been looking for, and maybe the collective wisdom of LJ will lead me in the right direction towards finding some of them.

The two I'm really looking for:

The Ballad of Charles Whitman, by Kinky Freeman. I have somewhat of a taste of songs about assassins, and I found out about this one doing some background research into Harry Chapin's Sniper. I've heard they're two completely different takes, and I"d love to hear the Freeman song. (Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] joshbrown who dug this one up. It *is* quite different from Chapin's take.)

Ohio, by Devo. A cover of the Neil Young song. Given that Mothersberg (one of the musicians) was at Kent State that day, the song takes on a new tenor being sung by them. Again, I'd love to hear it, so if anybody's got it... (Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] fb who dug this one up for me, along with a bunch of other songs in general with state's names in the title.)

Other than that, I'm in general collecting songs that have state names in the title, in particular my own home state of California. I'd have to dig through what I've got, but if anybody has any ideas, I'd love to hear 'em.

Thanks in advance.

Oh yeah, and last question, do any of you all out there like random music posts? 'Cause nobody commented the one time I did that, so I'm not sure if people do or don't.

Hmmm. I need a music icon.
