I like this man.

"This president told us he was going to be a uniter, not a divider."

"THAT WAS A LIE."

Date: 2003-06-15 07:13 pm (UTC)I like Kerry well enough... I have a few suspicions about his transparency, or rather his willingness to allow people to hold onto assumptions about him that may not be true. There was a medium-sized flap here a few months ago, about the fact that Kerry is not Irish. His grandfather's family is Austrian Jewish. His grandfather changed both name and religion when he came here, and later killed himself. Kerry's father did well for himself, including marrying into the Forbeses (the oldest of Old Money in Boston--they don't even speak to the Cabots, who speak only to God, as the old rhyme goes.
(I did vote for him, which is more than I'll do for anyone named Kennedy. The US does not need a royal family, in either party.)
But my biggest concern with Kerry is that he is very much a creature of the Democratic "machine". Dean, on the other hand is an outsider and an "impossible" candidate, if you listen to the pundits, so he can say what people really think. And this might be one of those years...
I want the Greens to start running for state legislatures and school committees, dammit!
